Unificationists do have choices when it comes to Unification singles sites for their dating, matching or courtship needs.

The late Rev. Sun Myung Moon had said that he matched couples from differing races and nationalities because of his belief that all of humanity should be united:

“International and intercultural marriages are the quickest way to bring about an ideal world of peace. People should marry across national and cultural boundaries with people from countries they consider to be their enemies so that the world of peace can come that much more quickly.”

Since the passing of the Rev. Moon several years ago, Unificationists have had to embark on increasingly member-centered ways to match their sons and daughters. In addition, many Unification-born adults have come to prefer finding a partner on their own; and people from all walks of life join the Blessing Marriage movement every day.

Since there isn’t a shoe that fits all sizes, a variety of websites (authorized and/or independent) have sprung up to serve the larger Unification community’s needs regarding dating, matching and courtship.

Blessed Family Match

https://bfmatch.org

From Site’s Own Description
“For Unificationist parents who want to find the future spouse of their child and Unificationist youth (matching candidates) who want to get matched.”

Contact: Ayako Heller (US only)

My Comments
Site’s niche: Parents and children of Blessed Families who identify with the mainstream Unification traditions and institutions.

This site requires that parents and candidates are vetted by a local church pastor (at least in the US), and registration is on approval by a site official. Otherwise, the site seems to have followed the technical approach of truelovesingles.com by operating on the WordPress platform and utilizing a popular community plugin for its profile, directory and messaging functionality. This should provide users of the site with a good experience to work the pool of strictly mainstream Unificationist candidates.

The site has been announced publicly as open and ready for use in Asia and the US. I had high expectations. However, during my first visit (after registering as a parent in May 2017) the site appeared to be still unfinished – as in some early beta stage. The Terms and Condition statement says little more than “Don’t sue us.” A Privacy Policy is non-existent. Who is responsible for this site?

Matchbook

http://www.blessedfamilies.org/bfa/index.php?p=matching_home

From Site’s Own Description
“The BFA matching network is designed to help Blessed Families share information for the matching of their children. Information is only shared with the people you wish, so you can feel comfortable to enter the information for all eligible family members.”

My Comments
Site’s niche: Children of Blessed Families who identify with the mainstream Unification traditions and institutions.

Site is operated by the Blessed Family Association in close association with the Blessed Family Department / FFWPU. Extensive official guidelines regarding the Marriage Blessing (Family Matching Handbook) inform the application and matching process. That may cater very well to parents and singles who look for compatible partners within the limited pool of mainstream candidates.

Online Matching System

http://www.cheon-il-guk.org

From Site’s Own Description
“OMS is a useful tool if you are searching for your heavenly spouse. Used across the world by many individuals, it is unique in its own right. Regardless of your faith, culture, and status, OMS will help you achieve the Marriage Blessing.”

Contact: Anne-Marie Mylar

My Comments
Site’s niche: All people with an appreciation for the Marriage Blessing as the milestone in their lives.

The website operator’s personal conceptions of a prudent matching process inform the user’s experience on this site. Users might feel a bit constricted as they “have to prove” themselves on the site, and are being “approved” to proceed throughout the site in a regulated manner.

BCMatching

http://bcmatching.org

This site is now suppose to be replaced by the Blessed Family Match site. Yay!

From Site’s Own Description
“This international matching website for Blessed Children was created through the efforts of the Blessed Family and Second Generation Departments of various countries. The purpose of this website is to go beyond language and nationality to facilitate communication between parents who are seeking to match their children under True Parents’ ideal for the blessing.”

Contact: Ayako Heller (US only)

My Comments
Site’s niche: Blessed children within the international Unification movement.

International marriage is a great concept regarding the betterment of the world and was prominently promoted by the late Rev. Moon in his outreach. However, this Asian-made site is about 10 years old and it shows. Advancing web technologies and refined user expectations have relegated this site to be experienced like an abandoned middle school project.

True Love Singles

https://www.truelovesingles.com

From Site’s Own Description
“Site offers Unificationist singles and their friends a modern and safe self-help social network with the aim of lowering the many barriers to finding that significant other. The site is thoughtfully designed to encourage meaningful conversations between singles or team members, making social discovery much more empathetic and humanized.

Registration is by invitation-only which helps curate membership to Unificationists. The registration code is known by supporting Unificationists, who then may vouch for promising singles by sharing the invitation code with them. The invitation code is also published in the Discussion stream of the True Love Singles group on Facebook (which you may join).

The use of premium features (confidential teams and personality tests) require an inexpensive upgrade from a free membership that already allows for unlimited messaging.”

My Comments
Site’s niche: Singles of the international, worldwide Unification community regardless of status or stigma.

The site focuses on enabling singles to find a promising other. Period. The site is operated fairly hands-off, with no overbearing regulations or prescriptive rules possibly impeding users’ intentions. Singles are in the driver seat and set personal privacy settings. Parents or coaches may join the site to engage in teamwork within their single’s teams.
